WHY JOHN HEALEY HAS
EARNED OUR VOTE
In this 2010 Republican Primary, the choice for
District Attorney is clear. With over 28 years as a
public servant in Fort Bend County, and four strong
terms as our District Attorney – John Healey is the
consistent choice of Republican voters, for many
reasons including:
A STRONG BACKGROUND IN CRIMINAL PROSECUTION
- As an assistant district attorney in our county
for nearly eleven full years (1982-1992), John
Healey tried over fifty felony cases without having
a single reversal on appeal. He gained experience
in office management, learning every aspect of the
jobs in the district attorney's office. He worked
among the assistant district attorneys, their
secretaries, investigators and victim assistance
coordinators. He dedicated his time as a public
servant to Fort Bend County, and did so
successfully.
Neither of his opponents has any experience working as an assistant
district attorney.
ADMINISTRATIVE EXPERIENCE
- Since 1992, John Healey has managed the largest
law office solely contained in Fort Bend County, and
nurtured its growth into one of the largest district
attorney's offices in the State of Texas. During
his term in office, his team of prosecutors have
grown from 16 assistant district attorneys to an
office of 44 assistant district attorneys. Each
year, over nine thousand serious cases are filed and
prosecuted in the adult and juvenile systems of the
D.A.'s office. Hiring, training and retention of
outstanding personnel to deal with this caseload is
one of Healey's chief responsibilities, and one
which he has effectively handled for 17 years.
Neither of his opponents has any experience in managing a large
office of attorneys and corresponding caseload.
CONSERVING THE TAXPAYERS' DOLLARS
- John Healey has worked 17 times at developing annual
budgets which were approved by Commissioner's Court
and audited on a regular basis by the Fort Bend
County Auditor. The spending of this money has been
monitored carefully by Healey and his administrative
coordinator, because he knows that this money is not
his; it belongs to the citizens of Fort Bend County.
Healey's opponents are sole practitioners who are only responsible
for their personal office budget.
A RECORD OF SUCCESS
- The Fort Bend County District Attorney's office is
successful at their courtroom work. In the most
serious of cases, those classified as felonies,
Healey's prosecutors have been consistently higher
in their trial conviction rates than the Texas state
average. In Fort Bend County courts which regularly
hear criminal matters, Healey's prosecutors, the
judges, and the defense bar have worked well
together in disposing of the large number of cases
filed.
One of Healey's opponents has no criminal trial experience prior to
2009 and both opponents are seeking to distort the
facts and record on the success of the District
Attorney's team of prosecutors.
AN OPEN DOOR POLICY
– For 17 years, John Healey has always been
accessible to the citizens of Fort Bend County. His
open-door policy applies equally to all - voters,
police, judges, elected officials, news media,
defense attorneys and crime victims. In all cases,
Healey makes himself available for meetings, for
speaking and working with all who seek his help in
solving their problems.
John Healey has been an outstanding public servant,
and his career illustrates the priorities of a
worker who places the needs of the public over the
needs of his campaign or political career. With 28
years of service to our county, and 17 years as our
dedicated District Attorney - now is the time to
join with our campaign and re-elect John Healey to
continue working for us!
